13 welfare parameters – from fin status to snout sores
OptoScale has, with the help of AI, automated the Laksvel protocol. To describe the status of the fish, we use a simple scale from 0 – 3 that shows the severity of the various parameters. This is an easy-to-understand system where 0 shows optimal condition and 3 signals the need for action. By using this method, changes in the welfare of the salmon can be easily tracked over time and any problem areas become visible at an early stage.
The web portal – clear information and trends
The web portal gives you an easy overview of the welfare status of your salmon. Based on the total score of the 13 parameters, you are always in control of the general condition of the fish. At the same time, it’s easy to see which parameters are developing positively or negatively, and take specific action where needed.
Give yourself full control of your salmon’s wound development
With the help of machine vision, thousands of fish can be examined daily, so you know what percentage of the fish in the cage have ulcers. Fish are classified based on the size of the wounds – “small,” “medium,” or “large.” You gain insight into how the wounds are evolving, whether they are growing or shrinking in size, and can keep track of the number of wounds per fish.
Take action faster
If you want to investigate the cause, you can evaluate the latest wounds detected using high-resolution images. For winter wounds, it can be valuable to gain an early overview of the outbreak. Measures can then be taken quickly through nutrition or the choice of delousing method, which can help to keep the development in check.
Plan slaughtering better
Use the wound module to evaluate the delousing operation and investigate how handling affects fish skin health. With daily status updates on wound size, it also becomes easier to estimate quality and plan for fish slaughter.
