Sven’s journey into the industry started during his university days when he co-founded a company focused on developing “smart nets” for aquaculture. His passion grew as he tackled significant industry challenges, particularly the imprecision of fish-weighing methods. This led him to develop a pioneering solution using cameras and lasers to measure fish weight more accurately, laying the groundwork for OptoScale.
A pivotal moment for us came when Ingar Nerbø, our lead AI and Optics engineer, advised shifting away from our initial laser-focused strategy. This change wasn’t just necessary; it was transformative, enhancing our offerings to include crucial capabilities like lice counting, welfare assessments, and behavior analysis. This decision proved to be a crucial “bet the company” moment that has since defined our trajectory. 🔄
